How to use this template

1. Fill in the project info at the top — project name, contractor, contract amount, and date. 2. Replace the placeholder line items with your actual scope of work categories. 3. Enter the Scheduled Value for each line item — these must total your contract amount exactly. 4. Submit to your GC for approval before your first pay application. 5. Each month, fill in the Work Completed This Period column — everything else updates automatically.

Tips for getting your SOV approved

Keep line items between 8 and 15 — more than that creates unnecessary back-and-forth. Don't front-load (inflate early line items to get paid faster) — GCs watch for this. Use language your GC recognizes from their own budget when possible.

This template is provided for general reference and educational purposes. It is not a substitute for a project-specific SOV reviewed by your GC. Requirements vary by contract and project type.
